All our experience is created in our minds. And to do this, the brain uses the same neural networks as we use to create dreams. The model our brain creates during our working hours is known as “controlled hallucination” because it is constrained by the data from our eyes, ears, etc.
When we understand that we create all our experience, including our feelings, and that no-one can make us feel anything, we are more powerful than we are when we believe that others are causing our feelings. Yes people do horrible things sometimes, but they can't make you feel a certain way.
In this module, we're going to take a deep dive into what happens in the mind and the body when we experience stress. And we're going to look at the impact of real and imagined stress.
The most impactful shift that happens in a life is when we stop looking outside for healing, and realise that the most powerful healing and recovery comes from inside of us. Just as our experience is 100% inside-out all of the time, so our healing power is 100% inside-out.
Even when we find healing outside of us, such as loving relationships or walking in nature, they work because we have chosen them and they are connecting into who we truly are.
We all have access to innate well-being. It's like the blue sky, which is always there behind the clouds. So even when things seem really bleak, we can just wait for the clouds to clear, and know that the blue sky and our well-being are still there.
This module includes an interview with Sharon Strimling is a Principles-based coach with a special interest in PTSD. It is a little over 50 minutes long, so you may wish to listen to smaller bites of 15-20 minutes, if the full interview is too long for you.
Understanding that we all experience different realities can go a long way towards healing our relationships.
And this is important also because when we heal our relationships, we create a safe space where we can heal our own separate hurts with each other. There's never a need to 'fix' your partner or for you partner to fix you.
A happy, healthy, connected relationship can be a crucible for healing.
I am a trauma-informed, relationship and well-being coach. I work with people who are experiencing mental health problems, as well as those who have hit a road-block in their relationships.
I practiced as an osteopath for 20 years from 2002. During this time I worked with hundreds of people who had experienced childhood trauma, leading to severe mental & physical health problems later in life.
I started my coach training in 2017, qualifying as a 3 Principles coach and a One of Many™ women's coach, bringing a more female approach to coaching.
During those last six years I realised that there is much to be gained by taking account of our spiritual nature - or what many of us call 'true nature.' This is the source of the creativity & compassion which enables us to heal from the inside-out.
