Coaching for Resilience
These are anxious times. Since the pandemic of 2020 we've seen a huge increase in anxiety, but it was already there before the pandemic started. Most of us think of anxiety as a “bad thing.” But is it really?
Human beings are very good at imagining the future, and it is often a scary future we imagine. If you find yourself caught up in anxiety, you are probably caught up in a vortex of what-ifs. And it may seem impossible to extricate yourself from it.
This is what the human mind was designed to do. But it isn't always helpful!
Anxiety often follows from a feeling of overwhelm, when it feels like we are unable to cope with what we are dealing with. Anxiety is the voice of the mind telling us that we won't be able to cope with something we are anticipating. When it gets out of control, anxiety can lead to depression. And all of this is stuff we are making up!
The underlying principle of mental wealth is that we all have the resources inside us which we need to heal. You have innate well-being and resilience which are there all the time, just as the blue sky is there all the time. Clouds may come and go, but the blue sky is constant. And this is your mental wealth.
Your mental wealth is also the key to creating loving and connected relationships. We can all bring 'relational resilience' to our relationships - we all have the capacity to form lasting, loving relationships.
In turn, as your connection and intimacy with your partner deepen, you will find that you heal within that relationship.
